
Volleyball Faces Early-Season Road Test

DENTON, Texas – UNT volleyball travels to San Marcos for the Texas State Invitational against Texas State on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and No. 13 Houston on Friday at 4 p.m. Thursday night's match can be heard on KTSW 89.9.
North Texas collected its second sweep of the season on Tuesday against Texas Southern. The team tallied a .507 hitting percentage for the fifth-best mark in single-game program history.
Head coach Kristee Porter leads UNT against its first ranked opponent of the season with No. 13 Houston on Friday. North Texas played six matches versus ranked opponents last season which ranked as the second-most in a single season in program history. UNT played a record nine ranked matches in 1996.
Historically, the Mean Green are 8-21 versus the Bobcats with a 3-2 mark in its past five contests, dating back to 2013. The two programs last met in the 2020-21 season when each played a home match. UNT tallied a sweep at home on February 22, 2021, before it dropped a three-set loss at Texas State on March 25, 2021.
North Texas holds an all-time mark of 2-11 against Houston with the two programs tied 1-1 since 2013. The road team has won the past two matches.
UNT played Texas State and Houston in its first season as a program, 1976, at the TAIAW State Championship in Canyon, Texas.
