
Soccer Travels To No. 14 Memphis

he Mean Green soccer team will play the first American Athletic Conference league match in program history Thursday night when they take on No. 14 Memphis on the road.

Thursday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+ and is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. CT from the Billy J. Murphy Complex.

North Texas (6-1) enters Thursday match coming off a 4-0 win over UT Rio Grande Valley Sunday to close out the non-conference portion of its schedule. UNT is off to its best seven-match start to a season since 2015 when they began the year 8-1 and ended the year with a single season program record 19 wins.

Thursday will be just the Mean Green's second ever meeting against the Tigers (5-1). The two teams met in 2019 in Memphis with the then No. 18 nationally ranked Tigers winning, 1-0. UNT went on to win the 2019 Conference USA Tournament title that season.

Memphis, the reigning AAC champs, entered this season ranked No. 20 in the nation and on Tuesday earned a No. 14 ranking after defeating Kansas State on Thursday. UNT last played a team ranked sub-No. 15Â in the regular season in 2018 when they played No. 12 Santa Clara on the road.

North Texas sophomore forward Summer Brown leads the AAC in goals scored and points. The 2022 CUSA All-Freshman team honoree has scored in every match but one this season.
