
Volleyball Sweeps First Conference Match

DENTON, Texas – UNT volleyball collected its first win in the American Athletic Conference with a 3-0 sweep of Florida Atlantic on Wednesday at the North Texas Volleyball Center.
"I was happy to get the win," head coach Kristee Porter said. "FAU did a tremendous job of pushing us tonight. It was competitive the entire match and we couldn't get any real separation. So, 1-0 feels pretty good right now."
North Texas (7-7, 1-0) recorded its third-consecutive sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) and fifth overall of the season. As a team, the Mean Green hit .385 against the Owls (8-6, 0-1) with 48 kills on 91 attacks. In its three-match sweep streak, UNT recorded a .353 hitting percentage and held opponents to .167.
Sh'Diamond Holly led with 12 kills on 19 attacks for a .526 attack rate and added three blocks and two digs. On the season, she leads The American with a .446 hitting percentage.
Jayde Harris (eight kills, .400), Anyse Smith (seven kills, .500) and Truli Levy (six kills, 1.000) each tallied six or more kills and hit above .400 for the match.
Ceci Harness paced the offense with 24 assists while Aleeyah Galdeira registered 13 digs.
