
Volleyball Drops Five-Set Battle

DENTON, Texas – Aryn Johnson set a season-high mark in kills as UNT volleyball fell 3-2 to Stephen F. Austin at the North Texas Volleyball Center on Wednesday.
"[Aryn] is explosive and she's a showstopper," head coach Kristee Porter said. "Her effort on the court was phenomenal. Her energy was the reason why we were able to get to a fifth set."
Johnson excited the home crowd with 17 kills on 37 attacks for a .324 hitting percentage. She tallied two blocks and two digs.
The Mean Green (4-4) drew the fifth-largest attendance in North Texas Volleyball Center history with 704 fans on hand for the five-set saga. UNT dropped its first home contest of the season (19-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 9-15) to SFA (6-1) in which there were 15 lead changes.
Truli Levy contributed 11 kills on 21 attacks and ended at a .381 attack percentage. She added one block and one assist.
Kamryn Scroggins posted her first double-double of the season with 15 assists and 14 digs. Ceci Harness led UNT with 28 assists.
Aleeyah Galdeira collected 16 digs to mark the fifth consecutive match in which she has led the team in the category. She distributed nine assists and picked up one service ace.

North Texas travels to the UCF Invitational for weekend matchups with Florida State and RV UCF at The Venue. The Mean Green open against the Seminoles on Friday at 3 p.m. CT before it meets the Knights on Saturday at noon CT. Saturday's match versus UCF will be streamed on ESPN+.
