1/30/2024 12:08:00 PM | Men's Basketball
North Texas (12-7, 5-2) and the Blazers (13-7, 5-2) are scheduled to tip-off from the Super Pit at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
Including the NIT championship game, UNT and UAB played four times last season. Wednesday will be the ninth meeting between the two schools in the last four years. It'll be the 17th all-time meeting. The series is tied 8-8.
There are only seven total players from both teams who played in last season's NIT title game. None of the Blazers' returners this year started in the championship game last year.
UAB is coming off a decisive 97-88 home win over then nationally ranked Memphis. They've won nine of their last 11 games. The only two losses came on the road against league opponents Florida Atlantic and Charlotte.
UNT has won seven of its last nine games and is 9-0 at home this season. They battled to a narrow 68-66 home victory last Thursday versus SMU. The Mean Green enter Wednesday's contest riding a 17-game home winning streak dating back to last season. The 17 straight home wins is tied for the longest home win streak in program history.
The active home win streak is the second longest active home win streak in the nation behind Virginia's 21-game home winning streak.
After Wednesday North Texas remains at home to host South Florida on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
