Women’s Tennis Takes on New Mexico State in Thursday Matinee

UNT looking for second win of the season
DENTON, Texas – After grabbing its first win of the 2024 season Saturday, the UNT women's tennis team returns to action Thursday when they take on New Mexico State at 2:00 pm at Waranch Tennis Complex.
The Mean Green opened the year with a doubleheader split in their first day of competition, defeating Southeastern Oklahoma after falling to McNeese in the first match of the season.
UNT was led by Stadfany Nformi who was dominant in both singles and doubles, posting a perfect 4-0 record across all matches and not dropping a set in singles competition.
Nformi and Olivia Halvorsen were a perfect 2-0 on Saturday at line one doubles, helping UNT post a perfect 4-0 mark in doubles play.
In fact, the Mean Green have been dominant in doubles play thus far this season, outscoring their opponents 24-2 in the four wins.
New Mexico State comes into the contest 1-1 as well, winning their first match of the season 5-2 over Weber State before falling Saturday against Tarleton 5-2.
Valeriia Ivanovskaia leads the Aggies in their young season with a pair of singles wins, both at line four, while also teaming up with Lisa Zhu at line two doubles for a perfect 2-0 record.
