DENTON — Less than 48 hours removed from its American Athletic Conference debut road win at Wichita State, the UNT men's basketball team is back in action Saturday to host the AAC's highest scoring offense Tulane.
The Mean Green (8-5, 1-0) and Green Wave (10-3, 1-0) are scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m. CT from the Super Pit and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
Saturday's game pins Tulane's offense, which averages 89.3 points per game — seventh-best in the nation and best in the American — versus the North Texas' defense that is holding opponents to 59.2 points per game — fourth-best in the nation and best in the American.
Both UNT and Tulane are coming off league-opening wins. The Green Wave defeated Rice at home on Wednesday, 84-59. North Texas, which is in its first season in the AAC, defeated Wichita State on the road, 74-62, on Thursday.
Tulane heads to Denton riding a two-game winning streak while the Mean Green have won three in a row and 14 in a row at home. A win Saturday over Tulane would extend the Mean Green home winning streak to the longest it's been since 2011 when they won 17 in a row at the Super Pit over a two-year span.
Following Saturday's game North Texas has a week off before hosting Temple on Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. CT. That game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
