The Mean Green (7-4-3, 3-2-1) took an early one goal lead off the foot of senior Devyn Flannery in the 9th minute and held that lead going into the half but they conceded two second half goals to the Owls (11-2-1, 5-1-0) to drop the road match.
North Texas had more scoring opportunities as they fired off 22 shots. Freshman Emma King had an excellent first half shot denied by the Rice keeper late in the first half. In the second half Summer Brown had a tough volley from inside the six-yard box miss just high that at the time would have been a go-ahead goal.
The Mean Green have a week off before their next match as they host South Florida on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
