Nguma Named AAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Redshirt freshman was stellar in UNT’s comeback win over FAU
IRVING, Texas – Redshirt freshman kicker Kali Nguma was honored for his strong performance in UNT's 41-37 win over FAU Monday as he earned American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Nguma scored 11 points, including a pair of key field goals, to help North Texas grab a 41-37 win in the rain at Florida Atlantic.
Nguma's 46-yard field goal, which was a career-long, in the second quarter pulled the Mean Green even at 17-17 before he hit a 40-yard attempt late in the third quarter to bring North Texas within seven points entering the final period. He also finished the game 5 of 5 on extra points to keep his perfect XP streak going, now at 32 straight makes.
Out of Mission, Texas, Nguma leads all American Athletic Conference kickers in scoring, and is fourth among all players, at 8.8 points per game entering Week 8.
He becomes the UNT first player since Noah Rauschenberg to earn Special Teams Player of the Week honors and joins Chandler Morris as one of only two players to earn a weekly award for the Mean Green this season.
