
Tennis Heads to Indiana for Hoosier Classic

UNT competes on the road for first time this fall season
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Coming off a strong performance in to open the fall season in the Diving Eagle Invite, the UNT women's tennis team hits the road for the first time this season when they travel to Bloomington, Indiana, to compete in the Hoosier Classic this weekend.
The Hoosier Classic will be a compass draw with each player guaranteed to play three rounds of singles and doubles matches. As is the case with all fall tournament, each singles player and doubles combo will compete individually.
North Texas will be joined by Memphis, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and host Indiana in the seven-team event.
There will be six different singles flight brackets and three doubles brackets in the tournament.
Stanislava Shulzhenko will play for UNT at line one singles, Stadfany Nformi will compete at line two, Carolina Laydner and Lou Chalard will compete at line three, Marina Adati will challenge at line four and Lilly Schultz will round things out at line six.
In doubles, the combinations of Gianna Pielet and Stadfany Nformi will compete at line one, Shulzhenko and Schultz will compete at line two and Chalard and Adati will compete at line three.
The Mean Green opened the season with an impressive 18-6 record in singles play at the Diving Eagle Invite while posting an undefeated record in doubles play against opposing competition.
In addition, Pielet competed in the ITA All-American Championships, grabbing a victory in the opening round to become the first UNT player since 2018 to win a match in the event.
The Hoosier Classic will be the last opportunity for North Texas to prep before the ITA Texas Regional Oct. 10-14 in Ft. Worth.
