CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Led by senior outside hitter Coco Gillett, UNT volleyball collected a 3-0 sweep over Charlotte on Friday night at Haltom Arena to extend its winning streak to four matches.
Gillett recorded 10 kills on 16 attacks for an attack percentage of .563 as the Mean Green (6-8, 3-0) toppled its American Athletic Conference foe. With its three-set win (25-15, 26-24, 25-12) over the 49ers (3-13, 0-3), UNT matched its best start to conference play in program history after it posted 3-0 starts in 2023 (AAC), 2013 (Conference USA) and 2012 (Sun Belt).
Junior Payton Van Veen also dropped 10 kills and finished with a .381 hitting percentage to help the Mean Green tally its third-best attack rate of the season at .326. Under head coach Kristee Porter, UNT improved to 25-5 in matches with a hitting percentage above .250, including a 5-1 mark this season.

The Mean Green dominated the opening set 25-15 and held a wire-to-wire lead with kills from six different players, led by three from Gillett.
After UNT fell behind early in the second set, libero Paige Mooney led the Mean Green on a 10-0 run from the service line with two of her match-best three aces over the stretch. Armed with a 15-6 lead, Charlotte clawed its way back to level the frame at 24-24 before kills from Gillett and Van Veen sealed the second set victory and two-set lead.
