11/11/2024 2:26:00 PM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team heads to Eugene on its first road trip of the season to take on No. 25 Oregon with tip off set for Tuesday at 1 p.m. CT from Matthew Knight Arena.
The Mean Green are 2-0 on the season after wins over Alcorn State and Texas Southern at The Super Pit. Now, they face a road test against Oregon, who entered the Associated Press Top 25 after upsetting No. 12 Baylor, 76-74, Sunday night.
Tuesday's matchup will be the first time North Texas has faced a ranked opponent under Jason Burton. The last, and only, win against a ranked team in program history was a 61-57 victory at No 17 Oklahoma on Nov. 16, 2015.
The contest will also mark the first ever meeting between UNT and Oregon. The game will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network with Zac Babb on the call.
WHAT 2 WATCH 4
• North Texas will play its first road game of the season in what will be the program's first ever meeting with Oregon.
• Oregon will be the first ranked team UNT has faced under Jason Burton with the Ducks landing at No. 25 in the AP Top 25 this week.
• Tommisha Lampkin was named AAC Player of the Week after a pair of double doubles in the first week of the season.
• UNT's roster features seven returners from last season and six newcomers, including two true freshmen.
ANYBODY ON ANY NIGHT
• UNT women's basketball had never had three players score 20+ points in a game until Nov. 4, 2024 against Alcorn State.
• Kyla Deck (27), Tommisha Lampkin (23) and Desiree Wooten (20) became the first trio to accomplish the feat in program history
• UNT is the only team to have three players score 20+ points in a game so far this season, and it was only done a total of 19 times in the 2023-24 campaign.
• Following Jaaucklyn Moore's 20-point performance against Texas Southern, UNT is the only team in the country with four different 20-point scorers this season.
• To put the versatility of UNT's scoring into perspective, the Mean Green had a 20-point performance 18 times in the 2023-24 season with only three of them not coming from Tommisha Lampkin or DesiRay Kernal.
A WIN WOULD...
• Improve UNT to 3-0 on the season
• Give UNT a 1-0 series lead over Oregon
• Be UNT's first victory over a Power Four opponent since Nov. 22, 2016
• Mark UNT's first win over a Big Ten member since Dec. 4, 1993
• Be the second ranked win in program history for North Texas and first since Nov. 16, 2015.
