Swim and Dive Set for Fall Finales
11/20/2024 1:46:00 PM | Swimming and Diving
DENTON - The UNT swimming and diving program will be split up this weekend and will take part in their respective fall finales, as the swimmers will travel to Indianapolis for the midseason championships at House of Champions, and the divers will head to Dallas to take on a strong field in the SMU Diving Invite following a strong showing last weekend at the Longhorn Diving Invite in Austin.
The divers will take on the 1-meter springboard on Thursday, the 3-meter springboard on Friday and finally the platform event on Saturday, and will face BYU, Drury, Hawaii, North Carolina, SMU and Wyoming. Last week in Austin, Kamryn Wong took third in the 3-meter springboard, and freshman Amelia Sharp set a new program record on platform to earn an NCAA Zone Cut along with Sydney Guidara, who now has Zone cuts in all three events.
In the pool, the swimmers will take on a large field, including Butler, Marshall, Little Rock, Northern Kentucky, IU-Indianapolis and St. Louis.
Last time out, the swimmers did their part in notching a big win over AAC foe Rice, as Diana Kolb and Indra Vandenbussche scored double victories and several other swimmers earned victories, as well.
"We're excited to head back to Indianapolis for the House of Champions midseason invite," UNT head coach Brittany Roth said. "The facility is one of the top in the nation, and giving our team a chance to get some tech suit swims to set us up for the back half of the season is always fun. The team has been looking really strong, and their team energy is exciting as they continue to come together and show up for one another, while putting in the work day in and day out. We're looking to performing our best of the season thus far, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do."
