Ryann Vik Named to AAC All-Freshman Team

Vik becomes eighth player in UNT history named to conference all-freshman team
DENTON, Texas – UNT volleyball middle blocker Ryann Vik was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman team, the league announced on Thursday.
The selection marks the eighth all-freshman team selection in program history and first since Andrea Owens (2021-22) was named to the CUSA All-Freshman team in 2021.
Vik leads AAC freshmen with 74.0 total blocks and 1.07 blocks per set, both team-high marks. Her blocks per set rate ranks No. 17 across all freshmen in NCAA Division I this season.
Over the past ten years, only four Mean Green freshmen have tallied more than 70 total blocks in their first season as Vik joined Alysha Johnson (90 blocks in 2019), Sarah Haeussler (98 in 2018), and Rhett Robinson (87 in 2018) on the list.
After a pair of top 100 RPI wins over Wichita State (55) and Rice (33) last weekend, UNT claimed the No. 7 seed at the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Mean Green will face a rematch with the Owls on Friday at 1:30 p.m. from Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan.
