DENTON — The UNT men's basketball team signed Kilgore College standout combo guard Cahmai Crosby on Friday.
The Kansas City native will join the Mean Green next season with two years of eligibility after he wraps up his second season with the Rangers this spring. As of Friday, the 6-foot-3 Crosby is averaging 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game for Kilgore this season.
Last year as a freshman, Crosby helped lead the Rangers to the Region 14 semifinals. He started 30 games for Kilgore a year ago and averaged 10 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game with a 1.6 assist to turnover ratio. Crosby also has range as he made 53 3-pointers last season at a 42 percent clip.
Crosby graduated from Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Missouri where he was a three-year starter for the Panthers and averaged better than 12 points per game each season. As a senior, Crosby averaged 17 points per game and led Park Hill South to a 16-win season. During his senior season he became just the sixth player in Park Hill South history to score 1,000 points for the Panthers.
After his senior season Crosby was named MBCA All State. He was a three-time first team all-district honoree and three-time first team all-conference honoree.
Crosby had over 20 DI offers and chose UNT over programs such as Appalachian State, Cleveland State, Green Bay, Longwood, Louisiana, UTA, Utah and WKU among others.
