
Volleyball Falls in AAC Quarterfinals to Rice

WICHITA, Kan. – UNT volleyball ended its magical comeback story with a 3-1 loss to Rice in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship on Friday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena.
In a four-set battle (18-25, 25-22, 17-25, 19-25) that featured 21 tie scores and 10 lead changes, the Mean Green (10-18) fell to the Owls (19-7) to end its season.
UNT were held to a .099 hitting percentage on 162 attacks, the second-most attacks in a four-set match this season.
Senior Priscilla Jones led the Mean Green with 13 kills on 23 attacks, both season-high marks, while fellow senior Aryn Johnson added 10 in the final match of her three-year career in Denton.
Junior setter Kamryn Scroggins posted her 11th double-double of the season as she led the team with 23 assists and 16 digs while adding an ace.
Three players, including Scroggins, finished with double-digit digs as starting libero Paige Mooney matched Scroggins' 16 and Johnson recorded 11 for her sixth double-double of the year.
In the second set, the Mean Green utilized a pair of five-point runs with freshman Reagan Bedell connecting for three kills and a block as a mid-set substitute.
Redshirt sophomore Loredana Fouonji continued her hot streak as she tallied a new career high of eight blocks with two kills in her fourth-consecutive start and fifth of her UNT career.
