
Volleyball Drops Four-Set Loss Sunday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – UNT volleyball dropped a 3-1 loss against American Athletic Conference opponent Memphis at the Larry O. Finch Center on Sunday afternoon.
As a team, the Mean Green (8-15, 5-7) dropped 15.5 total blocks in its four-set (16-25, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25) loss versus the Tigers (11-13, 5-7) to mark the fourth 15-plus block performance of the season.
Senior Priscilla Jones set a season-high mark of seven blocks while Payton Van Veen and Ryann Vik each added six stops. Senior Aryn Johnson posted a season-high mark of five blocks and 10 kills.
Despite early leads in both the first and second sets, the Mean Green sustained losses in both frames.
After the break, UNT opened a 10-point lead in the third set with a 12-1 run including two kills, two aces and one block from Van Veen. She led her team with 11 kills on a season-high 26 attacks with two aces and six digs.
Despite a late push from the Tigers, UNT held on to the third and claimed momentum in the match. The Mean Green utilized that momentum to open the fourth with a 9-4 lead before Memphis scored 18 of the next 26 points, including an unanswered six-point run late in the frame.
Setter Kamryn Scroggins filled the stats sheet with 34 assists and 10 digs for her team-best eighth double-double of the season. She also set her UNT career high with three blocks and tied her collegiate career-best mark, last achieved as a freshman at New Orleans on Sept. 17, 2022.
