Women’s Tennis Falls in Tampa Against FAU

UNT snaps four-match winning streak
TAMPA, Fla. – The UNT women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Saturday in Tampa as they fell 4-1 against FAU at USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
Marina Adati earned her first singles victory of the season playing at line six, but the Mean Green dropped the doubles point as well as matches at lines one, two and five to fall in their first neutral site matchup of the year.
UNT opened the match by dropping the doubles point for the first time this season. The Mean Green dropped a pair of narrow matchups 6-4 at line two and 7-5 at line three.
Adati was able to get UNT on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 at line six to trim the deficit to 3-1. The win for Adati was the third of her young career.
In singles play, FAU was able to grab wins at lines one, two and four to seal the victory.
At line three, Lou Chalard rallied from one set down and grabbed the second set to force a third. Her match ended prior to the match-clinching point with the score of 6-7 (7-5), 6-3, 1-1.
Carolina Laynder was on her way to winning her match for the Mean Green at line four, leading 6-4, 5-4 before the match ended.
With the loss, UNT drops to 4-2 on the season. The Mean Green will be back in action Sunday when they take on USF in the first true road contest of the season.
