Tennis Drops Narrow Matchup at USF 4-3

UNT falls late in first true match of the season
TAMPA, Fla. – The UNT women's tennis team was tied 3-3 late in the matchup at USF, but was unable to complete the victory Sunday as they fell 4-3 in their first true road matchup of the season.
The Mean Green grabbed the doubles point and won the singles matches at lines three and four before ultimately falling.
UNT won the doubles point to open the match thanks to wins at lines two and three.
Stanislava Shulzhenko and Marina Adati started things off with a lopsided 6-2 victory at line three.
Shortly after, Lou Chalard and Lilly Schultz won 6-2 at line two to give UNT the doubles point.
In seven matches this season, the Mean Green have won the doubles point six times.
Playing at line three, Olivia Halvorsen was the first player for UNT to win her singles matchup. The sophomore from Ontario, Canada, won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to put the Mean Green up 2-1.
With the score 3-2 in favor of USF, Chalard tied things up 3-3 with a straight sets win of her own 6-3, 6-2.
The Bulls were able to grab the final point of the match, however, winning at line five to grab the narrow 4-3 victory.
UNT will return to action when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on Central Arkansas and Southeast Missouri State Friday and Saturday.
