DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's tennis team faces back-to-back stiff tests this weekend, hosting No. 39 FIU and No. 49 Grand Canyon on Friday and Saturday looking to build on its solid start to the season.
The Mean Green are coming off back-to-back wins over Southeast Missouri State and Central Arkansas and will return to Waranch Tennis Complex to face their first ranked opponents in the Amanda Stone era.
UNT will take on FIU Friday at 2:30 PM and will return to action Saturday at 11:00 AM.
The Mean Green have had a balanced attack all season as six players already have three singles victories on the year, led by five apiece from Lou Chalard and Carolina Laydner.

In doubles play, the combinations of Olivia Halvorsen and Stadfany Nformi and Lilly Schultz and Lou Chalard have combined to both post 6-2 records playing on lines one and two, respectively.
FIU comes into Friday afternoon's matchup at 4-2 overall this season with their only two losses coming in road matches against No. 21 Miami and No. 8 Florida.
The Panthers are led by Oyinlomo Quadre who is ranked as the No. 47 singles player in the country and has posted a 10-3 record in singles matches this season.
GCU, meanwhile, is 8-1 on the season with wins over Power 5 opponents Missouri and Arkansas. The Lopes have won five straight matches and have swept their opponent in seven of their eight wins this season.
