Carolina Laydner comes from behind to win at line five
DENTON, Texas – Carolina Laydner, who moved from line six to line five due to an injury before the singles matches, came from behind after dropping the first set to win her match, but the UNT women's tennis team fell 6-1 against No. 39 FIU Friday afternoon at Waranch Tennis Complex.
Laydner grabbed a 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 win to improve her impressive singles record to 6-1 on the season as the Mean Green dropped to 6-4 on the year.
In doubles play, the duo of Olivia Malm and Stanislava Shulzhenko were strong at line three with a 6-1 victory, but the Panthers won the matches at lines one and two to win the doubles point.
Playing at line one singles, Malm found herself in a battle against the No. 47 ranked player in the country Oyinlomo Quadre. Malm won the opening set 7-6 (8-6) before dropping the second set 6-1.
