Lewis Finishes T5 to Wrap Up The American Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Mason Lewis shot a 2-under 70 in Wednesday's final round of The American Championship to finish the three-day event at 5-under par and in a tie for fifth place to lead the UNT women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at 10-over par.

Lewis ended the tournament with a 68-73-70 and was second in the field in total birdies with 15 - just behind the individual champion, who carded 16. She also tied for second in the field in par-3 scoring and tied for third in par-4 scoring over the three days.

Senior Ellie Roth was the team's second-best finisher, tying for 23rd at 5-over par - two shots up on her other three teammates, Emilie Ricaud, Shreya Pal and Bouquet Subsomboon, who all tied for 27th at 7-over.

The No. 46 Mean Green now await their NCAA Regional fate, as they are safely within the bubble to earn an at-large bid. It will mark the fourth straight trip to NCAA Regionals and fifth in program history.

Regionals will be played May 6-8 in Auburn, Alabama; Cle Elum, Washington; College Station, Texas; East Lansing, Michigan; Las Vegas, Nevada and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The selection show will be on April 24 at 1 p.m., and will be broadcast on Golf Channel.
