IRVING, Texas - UNT senior Tucker Allen became the first UNT men's golfer to earn a spot on the American Athletic Conference all-conference team and his second all-conference nod in as many years, the league announced on Wednesday.
Allen finished as a runner-up at last week's conference championship to automatically earn a spot on the team, which consisted of 12 golfers.
The senior from Tolar, Texas, wrapped up his collegiate career with a 66-69-69-204 showing at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, to earn the runner-up trophy to cap UNT's first season in The American.
"Tucker has been an incredible leader for our team this year," UNT head coach Luke Calcatera said. "He has quietly been leading by example in his work ethic and has improved in his scoring average and GPA this year. I'm really proud of what he has accomplished and excited to follow his professional career going forward."
Allen played in every event for the Mean Green this season and finished the year with a 72.14 stroke average, narrowly coming in second on the team behind Cody Winkler, who ended the season with just two fewer strokes than Allen over the course of the 10 events. He led the team with five top-10 showings on the season and added two more 12th-place showings.
Last season, Allen earned second-team honors on the All-Conference USA team.
