UNT Alum Terri Acosta Headed to Olympics as Team USA Athletic Trainer

DENTON, Texas – UNT alum Terri Acosta will be headed to the 2024 Paris Olympics as the head athletic trainer for Team USA Women's Basketball.
A 1999 and 2001 graduate of North Texas, Acosta has more than 25 years of experience in the athletic training field. She spent nine years on staff with the Mean Green working with football as a student before joining the women's basketball staff as an assistant athletic trainer following graduation.
"We are incredibly excited for Terri to be representing Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris," UNT's senior associate athletic director for sports medicine, Jeff Smith, said. "This is yet another accolade in her accomplished career. Terri continues to be a great ambassador for sports medicine through her passion and professionalism that have earned her this opportunity. Terri is a proud UNT alum, and we are glad she is part of our Mean Green family."
After stops at four other universities, Acosta landed in the WNBA as head athletic trainer for the New York Liberty in 2019. She is approaching two years of service with the USA Women's National team since starting in October 2022.
Team USA will open group play at the Summer Games Monday, July 29 against Japan.
