UNT Invitational welcomes Power Four opponents Colorado, Miami (FL) and Rutgers
DENTON, Texas – UNT volleyball begins the 2024 campaign with the UNT Invitational beginning on Friday at The Super Pit. The Mean Green will face off with Colorado at 7 p.m. on Friday, Rutgers at 6 p.m. on Saturday and close with RV Miami (FL) at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Each UNT home match will be streamed on ESPN+.
"Our team has been talking about [playing at the Super Pit] since last spring," head coach Kristee Porter said. "Just the opportunity to play in that building and to have access to as many fans as we want is exciting."
Friday will mark the first NCAA-sanctioned volleyball matches inside the Super Pit, first overall since UNT volleyball last played a match on Sept. 15, 1979, as a member of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
Porter welcomes back a roster of 10 returners, including American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference selection Aryn Johnson, and 12 newcomers.
Historically, the Mean Green trail its series 0-1 with Colorado and Miami after losses in 2023 and 2001, respectively. UNT has never faced Rutgers.
