
Johnson Reaches Century Mark, Volleyball Falls to Rutgers

DENTON, Texas – Senior Aryn Johnson tallied collegiate career kill No. 1,000 as UNT volleyball fell 3-0 to Rutgers on Saturday night at The Super Pit.
The Mean Green (0-2) pushed the Scarlet Knights (1-1) to the brink in sets one and two with resilient performances (23-25, 28-30, 18-25) but were unable to take a set from the visitors.
Johnson tallied her second-consecutive match of double-digit kills, finishing with 10 on a team-high 30 attacks. She added six digs and four blocks for 12 points.
In the second set, UNT trailed 23-16 before a 9-1 run punctuated by a block from Johnson and Truli Levy gave the Mean Green a 25-24 lead. The Scarlet Knights needed five set points before converting the sixth to take the two-set lead.
Coco Gillett led UNT with 11 kills while Kamryn Scroggins posted 17 assists. Freshman Madison Scrivner recorded a team-high 14 assists and one service ace.
