Soccer Hosts Conference Opener Thursday

DENTON — The UNT soccer team opens its 2024 American Athletic Conference slate Thursday night at home versus Florida Atlantic.
The Mean Green (4-2-1) and Owls (0-4-2) are scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans who attend Thursday's home opener can receive the 2024 Mean Green supporter scarf and boomsticks as a free giveaways while supplies last.
Additionally, in remembrance of Sept. 11, first responders can purchase tickets at a discounted price to Thursday's home match.
Thursday's league opener will be the 19th all-time meeting between UNT and FAU who have been conference partners since 2006 and have played each other almost every season since then. Most memorably for the Mean Green, they defeated the Owls in the 2019 Conference USA Tournament championship match, 5-2. It was hosted by North Texas.
Following Thursday night's match the Mean Green hit the road for their final non-conference match of the 2024 season. UNT will play at Abilene Christian Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. It will be broadcast on ESPN+.
