LAS VEGAS – UNT volleyball travels to Dig in the Desert for a two-match weekend against Cal Poly on Friday at 5 p.m. CT and hosts UNLV on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT from Cox Pavilion.
For the season, the Mean Green (2-5) hold a 33-point advantage in hitting percentage over its opponents (.263-.230) and lead the American Athletic Conference in attack rate. Middle blocker Truli Levy leads the AAC in total blocks with 32 and outside hitter Aryn Johnson ranks second in the league with 92 kills.
Cal Poly (3-3) enters the weekend after a three-set sweep over Troy on Saturday which snapped a three-match losing streak, all against nationally ranked opponents. Redshirt senior Tommi Stockham leads the Mustangs with 84 kills mainly distributed by redshirt junior Emme Bullis with 218 assists.
UNT meets former Big West Conference rivals Cal Poly for the ninth time in program history after the programs shared a league affiliation from 1996-99. The Mean Green are 0-8 against the Mustangs and last met in San Luis Obispo, Calif. on Sept. 5, 2019.
Hosts UNLV (4-1) dropped its first match of the season at Rice on Saturday after it opened the season with four-consecutive wins. Middle blocker Jordyn Freeman anchors the Rebels' defense with 28 total blocks and ranks third on the team with 44 kills.
Last season, the Mean Green defeated the Rebels 3-0 (25-20, 29-27, 25-22) at the Buffs Invitational in Boulder, Colo. on Aug. 26, 2023. Outside hitter Coco Gillett posted 11 kills in the victory with a .308 hitting percentage and setter Kamryn Scroggins recorded 17 assists. All-time, UNT leads the series 2-1 over UNLV.
