
Volleyball Swept at No. 16 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – UNT volleyball fell 3-0 to No. 16 Florida at the opening match of the Sunshine Invitational on Friday night at Exactech Arena.
The Mean Green (2-8) surprised the Gators (8-2) with an explosive first-set performance (22-25, 13-25, 18-25) in which the visitors opened with a 7-2 lead but were unable to steal a frame from the hosts.
Senior Aryn Johnson led the team with seven kills in the match, including four in the opening set that featured leads of five (7-2), three (14-11), three (19-16) and three (20-17) for the Mean Green. The Gators would close the frame with an 8-2 run for the early advantage.
In her UNT debut, junior Paige Mooney drew her first start at libero and finished with six digs, one assist and one ace.
Payton Van Veen paced UNT with a .545 hitting percentage with 6 kills on 11 attacks with zero attack errors. She added two service aces and one block assist to lead the team with 8.5 points.
