
Volleyball Defeated at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – UNT volleyball suffered its first road loss of the season with a 3-0 defeat to Maryland on Sunday at XFINITY Center Pavilion.
The Mean Green (2-5) capped the weekend with a loss (19-25, 12-25, 23-25) to the Terrapins (4-2) and were held to a season-low marks in kills, hitting percentage, assists and blocks in the three-set contest.
UNT opened the match with a 15-9 lead in the first set but saw the lead slip away before it tallied a season-low 11 points in the second to fall behind 2-0 in the match.
Head coach Kristee Porter inspired her team to a 14-11 start to the third set, led by outside hitter Aryn Johnson collecting four of her team-leading 13 kills over the stretch. Johnson notched her third double-double of the season as she added 11 digs.
The third set swung back-and-forth with 17 tied scores and seven lead changes, but the Terrapins would prevail.

UNT travels to Las Vegas to meet Cal Poly at 5 p.m. CT on Friday at the UNLV-hosted Dig in the Desert tournament.
