
Women’s Tennis Set To Open 2025 Season

Mean Green start campaign with a doubleheader in Denton
DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's tennis team is set to continue the Amanda Stone era as they host McNeese and UT Tyler to open the spring campaign Friday at the Waranch Tennis Complex before traveling to face Big 12 Conference opponent, Houston, Sunday.
The Mean Green will start the day versus McNeese at 10:00 AM followed by a match against UT Tyler at 2:30 PM. Sunday's match against Houston is set to begin at 1:00 PM at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
The 2024-25 roster consists of seven returners, including Stadfany Nformi, who posted a 10-6 record on line two last season and one addition in Gianna Pielet, who played her previous three seasons at Texas A&M.
Carolina Laydner also returns for her second season after posting a team-best .733 winning percentage in 2023 as she went 11-4 overall on the season.
North Texas additionally returns Marina Adati along with Lou Chalard, who won 10 games in her debut collegiate season.
Lilly Schultz and Stanislava Shulzhenko round out the underclassmen returners.
Olivia Malm returns as the only senior on the team as she competes in her third season with the Mean Green. Malm picked up eight doubles wins in 2023.
McNeese is coming off a successful 2024 campaign which saw the team go 20-4 and make a run to the Southland Conference championship before being eliminated. The Cowgirls will also be making their season debut on Friday.
UNT then faces off against UT Tyler of the Division II Lone Star Conference.
The Mean Green round out the weekend with a trip to Houston as they face a Cougars side that finished 2-19 in their debut Big 12 season.
