Mean Green Travel To UTSA For Saturday Showdown

SAN ANTONIO — The UNT men's basketball team is at UTSA Saturday for a mid-day showdown at the Convocation Center.
The Mean Green (12-4, 3-1) and Roadrunners (8-8, 2-2) are scheduled to tip-off in the Alamo City at 3 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPN+.
North Texas enters the game coming of a 69-60 road win at East Carolina on Tuesday and winners of two in a row. Saturday will the Mean Green's first trip to UTSA since Dec. 22, 2022. when they beat the Roadrunners 78-54.
UNT has won four of its last five meetings against UTSA and leads the all-time series history, 21-14.
The Roadrunners are under the leadership of head coach Austin Claunch who is in his first season as their head coach. The 35-year-old Claunch previously served as an assistant coach at Alabama where he helped lead the Crimson Tide to the 2024 Final Four. From 2018-23 he was the head coach at Nicholls. In those five seasons he led Nicholls to two 20-win seasons and two Southland Conference regular season championships.
After dropping its first two conference games UTSA has found its groove and enters Saturday on a two-game winning streak. They defeated Rice in Houston on Tuesday, 90-84, and beat Wichita State at home last Saturday, 88-75.
Following Saturday's game at UTSA, the Mean Green host Temple on Wednesday at the Super Pit. The Owls defeated nationally ranked Memphis Thursday, 88-81.
