
Women’s Tennis Set for Weekend in Ames

DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's tennis team will look to build upon its hot start as they travel to Ames, Iowa to take on Iowa State on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Omaha on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the McKee Indoor Tennis Complex.
The Mean Green (2-0) are coming off a sweep of their opening matches on Jan. 17 versus McNeese and UT Tyler. As a team in their season-opening games, North Texas were 11-1 in singles play and 4-2 in doubles.
North Texas only dropped one of its 14 possible points in its first two matches. Playing at line two in singles and doubles, Stadfany Nformi led the way for the Mean Green finishing the day a perfect 4-0 in each of her matches.
Nformi's doubles partner, Lilly Schultz, also held an undefeated record on the day at 3-0.
UNT will be Iowa State's first dual-match of the season, serving as the Cyclones' technical spring debut.
Last season, Iowa State finished 4-17 and were eliminated in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
The Cyclones are led by Anna Supapitch Kuearam, who ranks as the No. 64 singles player in the country.
North Texas takes on Omaha in a neutral-site matchup on Saturday to round out the weekend.
The Mavericks have started the season 2-0 after a double sweep of Sioux Falls and Morningside on Jan. 18.
Omaha is coming off an 11-13 season in which it narrowly missed making The Summit League tournament.
