Women’s Basketball Hosts Temple Wednesday Night

DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's basketball team (15-5, 7-1 AAC) will look to win its fifth-straight game as it enters its toughest stretch of the season beginning Wednesday night against Temple (12-7, 6-2 AAC) at 6:30 p.m. CT inside The Super Pit.
After suffering their only loss of conference play thus far at Tulane on Jan. 8, the Mean Green have bounced back with four consecutive wins to remain in the title hunt, sitting one game back of undefeated UTSA. A 7-1 start to conference play has only been accomplished three times in program history, which include both seasons of the Jason Burton era. However, a win on Wednesday would put the 2024-25 team in a category of their own as no North Texas team has ever started 8-1 in league play.
The last time out, UNT handled Florida Atlantic on the road, 73-61, behind 18 points from Jaaucklyn Moore and a double double courtesy of Aniyah Johnson. The 11-point, 12-rebound performance also included four blocks for Johnson, which led her to being named to the AAC Honorable Mention list on Monday. It is the first American weekly conference honor for the senior forward in her career.
Temple enters Wednesday's contest at 12-7 overall, but with a 7-3 mark in road games this season. The Owls just had a four-game win streak snapped on Saturday with a close loss to Tulane at home.
The Owls sit in a tie for third place with South Florida, the Mean Green's next opponent, at 6-2 in conference play. North Texas will travel to USF for a matchup Saturday before heading straight to San Antonio to face the Roadrunners in what will be a key three-game stretch for the conference championship race.
Wednesday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Doug Anderson and Brian Burton on the call. It can also be heard with Zac Babb on the Varsity Network App.
