Alexa Washington becomes the first player in program history with a triple-double
NEW ORLEANS – Senior setter Alexa Washington led Mean Green volleyball to a 3-2 (28-26, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-7) victory over Tulane on Friday night at Fogelman Arena.
Washington finished with 15 kills, 26 assists and 24 digs to become the first player in UNT history to record a triple-double.
"Honestly, this moment is so surreal," Washington said. "I never would have dreamed that I would get the opportunity to accomplish something like this. This team and the culture we're creating is so special to me, none of this would have been possible without them, and I'm thankful that I get to be a part of it."
UNT (13-5, 3-3) set or matched season-high marks in kills (69), attacks (213), assists (63) and digs (104) against the Green Wave (9-7, 1-4) on Friday night.
"First and foremost, I'm really proud of Alexa," head coach Dave Fleming said. "It's incredible that she got the first triple-double in the history of UNT volleyball. She's a really good player and that was obvious tonight so we could not have won without her."
Three North Texas players finished with double-digit kills as Washington was joined by Reagan Bedell (16) and Jahniya Jackson (14). Setter Sidney Soria tallied her third career double-double with 23 assists and 15 digs.
