
Tennis Set to Compete in ITA Texas Regional

Mean Green look to compete at high level on big stage
Ft. Worth, Texas – The UNT tennis program is set to compete in the ITA Texas Regional hosted by TCU starting on Thursday looking to make a splash against high-level competition from across the state of Texas.
The Mean Green have five singles players and three doubles teams sets to compete in the week-long competition.
In the main singles draw, Stadfany Nformi and Carolina Laynder have already clinched their spot in the top 64 by virtue of their WTN ratings and will start their competition on Friday.
The Mean Green will also have Pia Petelinsek, Marina Adati and Lilly Schultz competing in the qualifying draw starting on Thursday. The top 16 players who advance through the qualifying round will then clinch their spot in the main draw.
In doubles play, the combinations of Lou Chalard and Schultz, Nformi and Laydner and Petelinsek and Adati will compete in the main draw for the Mean Green. All three doubles teams will begin play on Friday.
The Mean Green have had a doubles duo advance to at least the round of 16 three times in the last four years leading up to the 2025 regional.
The 2025 ITA Texas Regional has a singles main draw of 64 players with a qualifying draw of 64 more players. The doubles draw, meanwhile, has 32 teams vying for the top spot. From this, the two singles finalists from each region (26) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship. In addition, the doubles champion from each region (13) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
The regional consists of all Division I women's tennis teams across the state of Texas.
