DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team has been dominant en route to a 3-0 start to the season, but is entering its toughest stretch of the nonconference slate beginning with Wednesday's matchup versus Abilene Christian.
The teams met last season in Abilene for the first time since 2013 with UNT winning 71-60. This time, the Mean Green will host ACU at The Super Pit where they are on a 14-game win streak dating back to December 2024. A win over the Wildcats would tie the progam record for consecutive home wins, which was set from 2001-02.
In its three wins this season, North Texas is averaging 99 points per game, while holding opponents to 45 points on average. UNT has exceeded 100 points twice in wins over Oklahoma Christian and Nelson University, but ACU will present the stiffest competition yet. The Wildcats enter Wednesday's contest at 3-1 on the season coming off a 77-76 loss to Stephen F. Austin.
Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday as the game will serve as Education Day with elementary students from Denton ISD and surrounding areas in attendance. The game can be seen on ESPN+ with Kyle Youmans and Brian Burton on the call. It can also be heard on the Varsity Network app with Sam Kaman. Of note, Wednesday's game will be free admission for fans.
