Stevenson Named Player of the Week

DENTON – UNT sophomore guard Je'Shawn Stevenson was named the American Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
The Mean Green guard led his side to two victories last week while averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contests. Furthermore, Stevenson took over games late as he scored 21 of his teams 26 combined total points in the final five minutes of each game.
This is North Texas' first American Player of the Week nod and Stevenson's first career conference player of the week recognition. The newcomer earned six Horizon Freshman of the Week honors last year at Cleveland State.
Stevenson is UNT's leading scorer through eight games as he's averaging 17.0 points per contest. He's scored 136 total points, which through eight games is the third most by a UNT newcomer since 2000.
Stevenson and North Texas hosts Houston Christian on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT.
