DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball will face its toughest challenge to date with No. 24 Oklahoma State coming to Denton for the marquee game of UNT's home schedule Wednesday night.
North Texas (5-2) has already faced two Power Four teams in nonconference play, splitting the games with SMU and Texas Tech. The 67-47 loss to the Lady Raiders was the last time the Mean Green took the floor on Thanksgiving Day. It came in the second game of the Hoopfest Women's Basketball Challenge in Frisco after defeating Saint Mary's 57-55 in double overtime the day before.
Oklahoma State will enter Wednesday's matchup at 8-1 and on a three-game win streak, headlined by an 87-84 victory over Miami in the final game of the Cayman Islands Classic. The Cowgirls boast one of the nation's top offenses averaging 94.9 points per game with seven players averaging double figures.
Ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 and one spot higher in the USA Today Coaches Poll, Oklahoma State will be the first ranked team to play in The Super Pit since Rice was ranked No. 25 on Feb. 23, 2019. UNT has struggled against ranked opponents in program history with its only win coming at No. 17 Oklahoma on Nov. 16, 2015.
Wednesday's contest will tipoff at 6 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+ with Kyle Youmans and Brian Burton on the call. It can also be heard on the Varsity Network app with Sam Kaman.
