Women's Basketball Hits the Road to Face Tulsa

DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's basketball team (18-7, 10-3 AAC) travels to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (12-12, 6-6 AAC) Saturday at 2 p.m. CT in the Reynolds Center.
The Mean Green got back into the win column Wednesday night with a big second half to down Memphis, 97-57. The Mean Green's offense clicked in the second half, scoring 63 points, which is the second most in a half since the 1992-93 season for the program. In addition, UNT's 97 points are the most scored against a conference opponent in regulation since the 1996 season. The Mean Green also scored 97 against Rice in a triple overtime loss in 2016.
Not lost in the excitement was UNT's program record for most home wins in a season as the team improved to 13-1 this year at The Super Pit.
Desiree Wooten led North Texas with a career-high 25 points, while Tommisha Lampkin added 22 points and 15 rebounds. The senior forward surpassed 1,400 career points while moving into sixth place on UNT's career scoring list during the game.
On Saturday, Lampkin will tie Madison Townley's record of 133 games played in program history. She is also chasing Townley's career rebounds record, needing 34 more to become the program's all-time leader.
The Golden Hurricane are coming off a 74-63 loss to East Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 8. Delanie Crawford had 24 points in the game to lead the team and is their leading scorer this season at 17.3 points per game. Tulsa is one of the nation's leading 3-point shooting teams taking over 25 attempts per game from beyond-the-arc.
North Texas won the first meeting of the season between the teams, 84-78, on Jan. 1. Jaaucklyn Moore posted 24 points in her first start of conference play that game.
