She tied her career high with 29 points in the win
TULSA, Okla. — Tommisha Lampkin was a dominant force in a game where she tied the UNT women's basketball record for career games played, leading the Mean Green to a 61-58 road win over Tulsa Saturday afternoon.
The senior forward posted her 13th double double of the season and 30th of her career, tying a career high with 29 points and 15 rebounds in her 133rd game at North Texas. She tied the record of her former teammate, Madison Townley, who played from 2016-22.
"We're getting to the end of the season, so my whole mindset revolves around locking in and being ready for March," Lampkin said.
The Mean Green used a second-half spurt to take a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter. Lampkin had 14 of her 29 points on the day in the period as UNT outscored the Golden Hurricane, 21-9.
However, Tulsa would battle back in the fourth, cutting UNT's lead to one point on a Delanie Crawford 4-point play with 10 seconds left in the game. On UNT's ensuing possession, Tulsa lost Lampkin on the inbound play resulting in a wide-open layup. Crawford's last second heave came up short as North Texas captured its first win at Tulsa in program history.
In addition to Lampkin, Jaaucklyn Moore reached double figures for North Texas with 11 points in the game.
UNT improved to 19-7 overall and 11-3 in AAC play with the win, while Tulsa fell to 12-13 and 6-7 in conference play.
The Mean Green will return to action in exactly a week when they travel to Greenville, N.C., to take on East Carolina on Feb. 22.
