DENTON, Texas — The UNT track and field team continued to rewrite the program's record book, breaking three more school records at the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas.
North Texas sent a full squad to the Jarvis Scott Invite for its final regular season meet before the conference championships later this month. After seeing success at the Red Raider Invite just three weeks ago, the Mean Green followed it up with another stellar performance in West Texas.
Jake Parchman began the meet by breaking his own school record in the men's weight throw. It's the second time this season he has extended his own school record as he jumped from 20.44 meters at the Arkansas Invitational to 20.70 meters for a third-place finish on Friday.
Another program record was broken Friday on the track in the women's 60-meter semifinals. Running in the same heat, Trezeguet Taylor clocked a 7.42 and C'Nai Childress ran a 7.44, which were both faster than the previous school record of 7.45 that Missy Barnes had set in 2010. Taylor also went on to post a personal best in the 200 meters, taking second place in her section with a time of 24.30.
The meet was capped off with the men's 4x400-meter relays where the Mean Green took down a 43-year-old school record. The team consisting of Clarence McGill, Makenden Brown, Chase Lehr and Chris Johnson ran a 3:08.76, topping the previous record of 3:11.21 that had stood since 1982.
With the addition of the three records at the Jarvis Scott Invite, Mean Green athletes have now broken seven indoor school records during the 2025 regular season.
"I was happy with the weekend because I thought our athletes did the things we needed them to do finishing up the regular season," head coach Doug Marshall said. "We need to tighten some things up in the next two weeks, but we will be ready for the conference meet."
Several other North Texas athletes had notable performances over the weekend, including Fabrienne Foster who won Section B of the women's weight throw. Her mark of 18.76 meters is a personal best and the second-best throw in school history behind Allison Stigarll's 19.25 meters at the 2024 AAC Indoor Championships. Rachone Stigarll also set a personal best in the weight throw, taking fourth place in his section of the men's weight throw with an attempt of 17.40 meters. Finally, Reah DeGraffenried blew past her previous personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking an 8.78 in the semifinals on Friday.
UNT will take a week off to recover and prepare for its next outing at the AAC Indoor Championships taking place in Birmingham, Ala., from Feb. 28-March 1.
