The Chevron Collegiate
Golf Club of Houston | Humble, Texas
The UNT women's golf team is back to competition and will take on a loaded field at The Chevron Collegiate, hosted by the University of Houston.
Â
THE EVENT: The Golf Club of Houston will play as a par-72 course at 6,203 yards. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday with an 8 a.m., shotgun start on both days.
Â
THE FIELD: There are 16 teams participating in the tournament, including seven teams in the top 50 nationally and four top-20 squads, including the nation's top team: No. 1 Arkansas, No. 21 Houston, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, No. 33 Iowa State, Maryland, No. 12 Mississippi State, No. 42 SMU, No. 16 TCU, No. 17 Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNT and UTSA.
Â
REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Shreya Pal, Mason Lewis, Malisone Chanthapanya, Bouquet Subsomboon and Katharina Anglett. Mallorie Luitwieler will compete as an individual.
Â
RESULTS: Live scoring and final results will be posted on Scoreboard. A full recap will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each day.
 Â
AKERS SAYS: This is another great opportunity to pick up some solid wins," head coach Michael Akers said. "The field is loaded again. We have moved up in the rankings and are in a position to get inside the bubble with nice finishes at Houston and UT. I am reminding the ladies of our finish in 2023. That runner-up finish maybe my best memory as a coach."
MOVING UP: UNT has made significant strides since Akers took over eight years ago. The Mean Green were ranked No. 201 following the 2015-16 season, and since Akers arrived in Denton, UNT has soared more than 150 spots from that time. The Mean Green are now consistently ranked in the top 50 nationally and have qualified for four straight NCAA Regionals - the only active AAC team with at least four consecutive NCAA berths.
UP NEXT: The Mean Green will next head down I-35 to play in the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, on March 17-18.
Â
NEW FACILITY: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
