Tommisha Lampkin passed Madison Townley as the leading rebounder in program history
DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's basketball team defeated Charlotte, 67-58, Wednesday night in its penultimate home game of the season.
Tommisha Lampkin recorded her 32nd career and fourth consecutive double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Lampkin became the all-time rebound leader in North Texas history early in the second quarter, surpassing Madison Townley's 875 rebounds as she now sits atop the leaderboard with 887 in her career.
Ereauna Hardaway scored 10 points and tied her career-high with eight assists on the night. Hardaway also went 6-6 from the free throw line, with four of those coming in the final minute of the contest.
"We were fortunate to walk away with the win," head coach Jason Burton said. "We had multiple people step up for us — Chania Price down the stretch was big again and Ereauna [Hardaway's] eight assists were key."
North Texas (21-7, 13-3 AAC) held a 31-21 lead at the break.
In the fourth quarter the 49ers (9-18, 4-12 AAC) forced the Mean Green into four turnovers to bring their total on the night to 21, which included 20 steals that sparked a late comeback.
Charlotte cut the deficit to 59-58 with 1:25 remaining before the Mean Green pulled away with an 8-0 run, primarily at the free throw line.
UNT will face UAB Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. CT in its final home game of the season. The Mean Green will hold its Senior Day ceremony prior to tip-off beginning at 1:45 p.m. to honor Aniyah Johnson, Amaya Brannon and Jaaucklyn Moore.
