DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's basketball team collected several American Athletic Conference postseason honors, which were announced Friday by the league office.
The Mean Green's accolades were highlighted by Tommisha Lampkin being a unanimous selection to the All-AAC First Team. The senior forward is the first UNT player to earn first team all-conference honors in consecutive seasons since Terriell Bradley in 2018-19.
Lampkin led the conference in multiple statistical categories, including rebounds per game (10.1), field goal percentage (.565) and double doubles (16). She also ranked second in scoring at 17.1 points per game and was the only player in The American to average a double double on the season.
A three-time AAC Player of the Week, Lampkin was also selected as an honorable mention seven other times during the season, showing her consistency throughout the season.
Desiree Wooten earned her first all-conference selection as she was voted to the All-AAC Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. The sophomore guard stepped into starting role this season and started every game she appeared in. She was second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game, while adding 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. One of the best on-ball defenders in the conference, Wooten totaled 50 steals on the year, which ranks third among individual players.
Aniyah Johnson joined Wooten on the AAC's All-Defensive Team in her final year in Denton. A product of Killeen, Texas, Johnson appeared in all 30 games, making 24 starts. She turned into one of the better rim protectors in the league, totaling 28 blocks on the season with 24 coming in conference play that ranked No. 4 in The American.
North Texas enters the AAC Championship with a double bye into the quarterfinals as the No. 2 seed. The Mean Green will face the winner of No. 7 East Carolina and No. 10 Memphis on Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m. CT at Dickies Arena.
