DENTON, Texas — Head coach Jason Burton and the UNT women's basketball staff announced the signing of three transfers that will join a large group of newcomers to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
After receiving five signatures from prospects during the early signing period, the Mean Green are adding veteran forwards, Tionna Lidge from Southern, and NAIA All-American, Megan Nestor, along with former UTSA guard, Aysia Proctor.
"All three signees come from winning programs," Burton said. "That is one of the most important things we wanted to bring in was winning experience."
Tionna Lidge I 6-4 I Forward I El Paso, Texas/Southern
Lidge is a veteran post presence that will add size to the North Texas frontcourt. The El Paso native played in 87 games during her four years at Southern, averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
She played an integral part in Southern's run to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, starting all 35 games on the season. One of her best performances of the year came in the SWAC Tournament championship game where she posted 11 points and 10 rebounds in her first career double double. The senior forward posted a career high 7.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while adding 35 blocked shots over the course of the season.
Quoting UNT head coach Jason Burton:
"Tionna is a champion that brings a different element to the floor with her combination of size and her ability to shoot. The lefty forward is a leader on and off the floor who defends, takes charges and has the ability to rebound at a high level."
Megan Nestor I 6-4 I Forward I Canaries, St. Lucia/Wayland Baptist
The Mean Green will also welcome in Megan Nestor who will provide valuable size and energy to a frontcourt having to replace graduates Tommisha Lampkin and Aniyah Johnson. Nestor was a NAIA First Team All-American and the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2025.
A junior from St. Lucia, Nestor averaged 20.5 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, while leading Wayland Baptist to the second round of the NAIA Women's Basketball Championships. A dominant force in the paint, she ranked third in the NAIA with a .635 field goal percentage and eighth in rebounding, which included nearly six offensive rebounds per game. In the NAIA National Tournament, Nestor averaged a team high 29.5 points per game to go along with 13.5 boards over the two games.
Nestor carried momentum into her junior season following an outstanding 2023-24 season that saw her collect Third Team All-America honors. She was named the 2024 SAC Defensive Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection after averaging 15.9 points and 13.5 rebounds with 34 blocks.
Quoting UNT head coach Jason Burton:
"Megan is an All-American at the NAIA level who is extremely efficient in the paint and an elite rebounder. At 6'4", she is a great rim runner for her position and plays with a high motor."
Aysia Proctor I 5-8 I Guard I Schertz, Texas/UTSA
A familiar face for North Texas, Proctor was one of the elite underclassmen in the AAC during her two seasons at UTSA. She made an instant impact for the Roadrunners, appearing in 32 games with 20 starts as a true freshman in 2024. She posted 9.7 points per game at a 44.8% clip from the floor, while knocking down 40 3-pointers on the season.
As a sophomore, Proctor came off the bench playing 14.3 minutes per game. She scored in double figures three times during conference play with 16 points in a road win at Tulane marking her season high.
Over her two seasons in San Antonio, Proctor averaged 7.7 points per game and was a 34.9% 3-point shooter.
Quoting UNT head coach Jason Burton:
"Aysia is a talented three-level scorer that gets it done on both end of the floor and has a championship DNA. She brings American Athletic Conference experience and toughness to our backcourt."
