Soccer Set for Road Debut at Prairie View A&M

DENTON - The UNT soccer team will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Prairie View A&M on Saturday night at 7 p.m.Â
The Mean Green (1-2-0) dropped an exciting match against DFW rival SMU on Thursday night, falling just short of a furious comeback after they fell down 3-0 and ultimately lost 4-3 with a chance to tie it in the 90th minute.
Junior midfielder Mia Bernard opened the scoring for UNT with her second goal in as many games, as she was assisted by Rachel Roebuck - her second of the season. Sophomore defender Ella Bushko found the back of the net on a long chip over the keeper's head in the 79th minute for her first career goal, and sophomore forward Claire Niedermeier made good on her 19th shot of the season with an 89th-minute goal to make it 4-3. A minute later, Summer Brown again found Niedermeier running through the box, but she was tripped up to end the chance.
Prairie View A&MÂ (0-2-0) has lost its first two matches of the year - both 3-0 results to North Dakota and UTRGV. The Mean Green are 2-1-0 all-time in the series with the Panthers and won the last meeting a year ago with a 9-0 victory. In that match, Roebuck had four goals.
