DENTON - The 2025Â cross country season begins Saturday for the UNT program, as both the men and women will compete at the UCA Bear XC Invitational in Conway, Arkansas.
The meet will give several newcomers a chance to make their mark early in the season, as head coach Erik Stevens has decided to sit many of his more experienced runners for the opener.
That means the men will field a lineup of three freshmen - Luke Anderson, Ethan Rodriguez and Jason Wade - a sophomore, Hunter Hendry, and junior Alan Proenza. For the women, it'll be a pair of freshmen in Bayley Tapley and Mia Lay, along with sophomore Destiny Hernandez and junior Aditi Silwal. Both the men and women will run a three-mile race.
"We're excited to get back on the course and back in uniform," Stevens said. "We've had a strong first few weeks back and the group is meshing well together. We've have a really solid group of men and women with the right mindset to put us in a good spot early in the season."
Saturday's meet will begin with the men's race at approximately 8Â a.m., followed by the women toeing the line with a tentative start time of 9:10 a.m.
