STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Head coach Dave Fleming secured his 400th career win as UNT volleyball defeated Tarleton State 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-22) on Saturday at Wisdom Gym.
"I am really proud of the team," Fleming said. "I'm happy for Loredana [Fouonji] and Reagan [Bedell] on their all-tournament selections but it so hard to give individual credit. Everyone followed coach [Adam] Campbell's game plan to T and executed and played great. We all thought this was going to be a tough match because Tarleton matches up so well with us physically, but we came away with the victory."
Middle blocker Loredana Fouonji was named MVP of the Texan Classic after she collected 12 total blocks, including three solo, and added 24 kills on 46 attacks for a .413 hitting percentage over three matches. Sophomore outside hitter Reagan Bedell was named to the all-tournament team with 41 kills, six service aces, 26 digs and seven blocks over 11 sets played.
The Mean Green (10-2) spoiled the Texans' (6-6) perfect weekend as it defeated the hosts of the Texan Classic and extended its winning streak to seven matches. The streak ties for the sixth-longest in program history and is the longest for UNT since 2018.
Bedell posted her second double-double of the season with a match-high 14 kills and added 10 digs. Setter Alexa Washington distributed 25 assists while Fouonji dropped five blocks.
"Today's match was for Ariyana Thomas as today was her last match as our athletic trainer," Fleming added. "She has done a great job of taking care of us."
North Texas opens American Conference play Friday at 6 p.m. against Charlotte at the UNT Volleyball Center. Fans can purchase tickets HERE.
