Vik Named Preseason All-Conference Selection

DENTON – Sophomore middle blocker Ryann Vik was named to the Preseason All-American Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Vik became the fourth sophomore in program history to earn preseason all-conference honors and first since Barbara Teakell in 2018. The Mean Green have had at least one preseason selection since it joined the American Conference in 2023.
Last season, Vik was named to the league's All-Freshman Team after she led all first-year players in the American at 1.06 blocks per set. She tallied 86 kills on 181 attacks for a team-best hitting percentage of .365 among qualified players.
Vik collected 13 block assists on Oct. 25, 2024, to set the single-match UNT record and become the first freshman in Division I with over 13 block assists since 2016.
The Mean Green were picked to finish tied for 11th in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll despite finishing seventh last season for qualification to the league's championship tournament.
UNT will open the season at the Lion Invitational in Commerce, Texas, on Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. versus Little Rock before a meeting with Providence at 4 p.m.
